I tried 40DShutterCount, EOS Info on Windows, and a couple web-based utilities and all failed to run properly or find the shutter count. The cost of one half a cup of coffee is nothing compared to the hour of time wasted on the other tools.

I have seen some good reviews about this app and I thought I could give it a try. I went ahead and downloaded it to see how many pictures my old 550D have taken since 2012, and what I got were a blank shutter count and a wrong serial number. I tried connecting again without an SD card and then again without an SD card and I never got the answer for how many shutter counts my camera has. Not sure if this has been a bug or something, but I just wasted $1.99 while I should have just used Magic Lantern in the first place and it’s completely free and accurate. What a waste of money and disappointment.
This is a simple, lightweight, no-nonsense piece of software and is definitely worth the low price of $1,99. I do have to qualify that by saying that it did not work for my camera. I have the Canon EOS-1 Ds Mark III and it would not give me anything other than the serial number and firmware version. Greatly disappointing, but with a compatability list added, I think it’s just fine!
Purchased on the recommendation of a friend and it worked great. Just plug in the camera and all the vital information is immediately displayed. Could not be easier.
This is did just what it said it would do for my 7D. A lot of the negative comments our about it not working on particular cameras. The support page for the app lists which cameras it works for.
Very useful and easy to install app, perfect for professionals like myself who depend on equipment working flawlessly time and time again. It took me less than a minute from finding this app to reading the shutter count on my cameras. The EOS Inspector worked great for my Canon 7D and my Canon 5D Mark II. I also checked my older back up camera, the original Canon 5D, but it would not read any information from that model. I would buy this app again.
Worth the two bucks to see how much that used camera had been, well…used. Doesn’t seem to be able to read the serial number but who cares? I got the info that I needed and it was a piece of cake to use.
SIMPLE AND EASY APP TO USE ONCE U HAVE DOWNLOADED TO YOUR IMAC OR McBOOK PRO. it did work great and fast with my CANON 7D MII & CANON 7OD. THE SERIAL NUMBER WAS ALSO CORRECT AND ACCURATE. I hope this guy can make more apps for us to use. thank u!!!!
I looked over the internet to find shutter count. Dont try to download the free software its plagued with viruses. Do yourself a favor and spend the two dollars! Thank you EOS inspector!
This app doesn’t work on 700D
Had no idea there was a Mac based shutter count program. (trying to sell a camera on ebay and was asked for count) Worked perfectly.
